DocumentedA patrolman broke off a speeding chase because he heard a roar and saw a flame drop behind the mesa, and he expected to find a dynamite shack going up. He found an egg-shaped object standing on legs in an arroyo with two small figures in white coveralls beside it. He was on duty, in uniform, and radioing it in while it was still there.

What is not settled
A single witness again, though an on-duty officer whose account was taken the same day by the Air Force and by the FBI. Blue Book investigated it and left it unidentified, which is the strongest thing that file says. The occupants were seen at distance and for seconds: the coveralls are in the record, the faces are not.
