Scientific contextOn 22 May 1984 a subject in a government-sponsored remote-viewing programme was handed a sealed envelope and asked to describe what was inside. The transcript, released by the CIA and readable in its reading room today, has him describing very tall, very thin figures in light garments, a failing environment, and a population trying to leave.

It earns a place because a real agency really did run this session and really did keep the paper, and because the figures described in it have since been quoted for decades as though they were seen.
