The record
An official file preserves that a report was made and examined. It does not, by itself, establish what was seen.
- USAF / Project Blue Book Blue Book case file, Ravenna-Mantua, Ohio (opens in a new tab)

What is not settled
Blue Book's conclusion in the file is brutal and is the line to put on screen: it is believed the deputy was chasing the planet Venus. The chief's photograph was written off as a film defect. The deputy's career and marriage did not survive the aftermath.
