The record
An official file preserves that a report was made and examined. It does not, by itself, establish what was seen.
- US Army Inspector General (Lt Col George C. Sarran, 1982); USAF Bergstrom AFB interview 1981; Texas Dept of Health Bureau of Radiation Control; US District Court S.D. Texas DAIG report on the Cash-Landrum incident; Bergstrom AFB interview; Betty Cash et al. v. United States (opens in a new tab)
The document is attached to this entry.
What is not settled
The DAIG finding is the case-killer: the witnesses were credible, but Sarran found no evidence of any US military involvement - no unit, no aircraft, no operation. The suit was dismissed in 1986 without trial. The Texas Department of Health did not establish an ionising-radiation cause.
